Richard M. "Dick" Lierman

Richard M. “Dick” Lierman, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with his family by his side at The Caretta Memory Care in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  His wife and he lived in Durand until January 2025.

He was born on December 4, 1942, to Milton and Alpha (Blicher) Lierman in Menomonie, Wisconsin.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie.  He attended Bountiville Elementary School, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Elementary School, and Menomonie High School where he graduated with the class of 1960. 

On May 4, 1962, he married Rayola Lehmann at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elmwood, Wisconsin.  After their marriage, they moved to Durand where they raised their four children.  Dick owned and operated Dick’s 66 Service on Prospect Street from 1965 to 1973.  In 1973, he became the fleet mechanic for Bauer Built, Inc. and was employed there for 36 years until his retirement.  He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Dick enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with Rayola. He also liked hunting and fishing. He was the cornerstone and constant presence in the family’s lives and he truly enjoyed spending time with them and attending his grandchildren’s school events.

He is survived by his wife, Rayola; his son, Mark (Leigh) of Benton, Wisconsin, granddaughter, Shay (Brady) Vaassen, grandson, Lance (Cora), great grandchildren, Ruthie and Louie; his son, Kenneth (Jacquelyn) of Zimmerman, Minnesota, granddaughter, Gabrielle (Chris) Cheney, great grandchildren, Zoey, Ian, and Madelynne, grandson, Morgan (Laurel), great grandchildren, Grayson and Anora; his daughter, Renee (James) Hurlburt of Altoona, Wisconsin, grandson, Jordan (Joy), grandson, Jacob (Kali), great grandchildren, Paisley, Jett, and Bowen, grandson, Nathan (Rebekah) Hurlburt and great grandchild due in March 2026; and his daughter, Michelle (Kyle) Nelson of Eau Galle, Wisconsin, grandson, Alexander Lierman (special friend, Courtney), step grandson, Cooper Nelson and his special dog, Brody.  In addition, he is survived by his brother, Vaughn, brothers-in-law, David Knaack and Pete (Dorothy) Lehmann; and sisters-in-law, Reta Stewart and Ruth Brenne, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Alpha; sisters, Marilyn Lierman and Joanne Knaack; his father and mother-in-law, Loyd and Lila (Gasteyer) Lehmann; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Lavonne) Lehmann, Neil Stewart, Rosetta (Ray) Quarberg, and Lucille Lierman; and his grandson, Brett Hurlburt.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of The Caretta Memory Center.

Funeral Services will be 12:00PM Noon on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Durand with Rev. Daniel Pfaffe officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Durand. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until the time of services at the church on Saturday. A Celebration of life will follow at the Eau Galle Town Hall from 1:00PM-4:00PM.
